I’d like to start by telling you a little about myself and how I got to be a VA. But to do that we need to go back a little ways. I won’t take you all the way back to the beginning, but maybe to the beginning of what might seem like an unexpected journey.
In 1995, I graduated from law school and began practicing law in Texas. See, I told you it was unexpected. I liked law and my favorite cases were those where I was helping someone who couldn’t protect themselves (elder law) or representing children who legally could not be their own voice.
After practicing law for 10 years, I could no longer resist the urge inside of me to jump into the education field. You see, my entire family worked in education and I am convinced it is in my genes. I got my teaching certificate and immediately knew that I found my passion. While I liked practicing law, I instantly loved teaching! I love education and over the years have grown to love helping teachers just as much or more than kids.
In 2009, I started a blog and store on a website called Teachers Pay Teachers. Teaching in Blue Jeans became a way for me to help teachers around the world. It started as a hobby, but in 2012 I realized it was more than that and started working it as a business. I have since met multiple TpT milestones and now I am able to use my 10+ years of experience to help others through my VA work.
In 2015, I made the difficult decision to leave the classroom in order to homeschool my amazing son. It was the best decision for our family! Although I had no idea what a VA was at that time, it was during that first year of homeschooling that I began doing different projects for other TpT sellers. Little did I know that it would become a second business.
Why did I give you all that background? My hope is that as you get to know me you will see that throughout there is a common strand – I love to help people. I am looking forward to working with you and helping you too!
As a VA you get all sides of me: the creative teacher side, the practical Mom side, the analytical lawyer side, and the dedicated teacherpreneur side. Over the years, I have found that each of these areas has helped me as a small business owner and VA. I am excited to use my knowledge and experience to help you as you work to grow your business.
In January of 2021, VAmy started to grow. I now have a team of amazing VA’s that are ready to help too. Everyone on my team has education experience as this is important in order to best support you. I have also trained each of them and will always personally review the work we do before I send it to you. We want to be your “One Stop VA Shop.” Let us help you with all things teacherpreneur!
